Welcome to Corporate Community Affairs! Thank you for your continued support of the community affairs effort at Southwest Airlines.

In January 2007, this team transitioned from our Marketing Department to our Corporate Communications Department. The Team’s goal continues to be to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships in Southwest Airlines’ diverse communities by leading with integrity and a servant’s heart. It also has expanded its scope to seek strategic partnerships and relationships with key influencers in various Customer segments, such as Women, Seniors, and Gay/Lesbian.

Laura Nieto, Senior Corporate Community Affairs Manager, leads the five-person team, which divides responsibilities across the United States. For the past three years, the Team has focused on relationships in the areas of Education, Business, and Politics. The vision is to ensure that Southwest Airlines is a trusted and valued partner which engages in initiatives to make a positive difference in the communities we serve.

Collectively, this small, but passionate team of six has nearly 60 years of experience at Southwest Airlines. This year alone, they have served on more than 33 governing boards in an executive leadership, advisory, or chair capacity; cultivated mutually beneficial relationships with more than 135 advocacy, business, and political based organizations; and generated more than 15 million lasting impressions among diverse audiences to build brand awareness and establish greater connectivity across the country.
