Online Checkin @ southwest.com

Step-by-Step Instructions

Beginning 24 hours prior to scheduled departure, Customers with eligible reservations may check in online and print a boarding pass at southwest.com. Boarding passes are also available at a Southwest Airlines Skycap Podium, Ticket Counter, or E-Ticket Check-In kiosk. For details on Wireless Checkin via your web-enabled mobile device, please see Wireless Access.
  1. Determine if you are eligible. To use Online Checkin @ southwest.com and print your Boarding Pass, you must:
    • Be age verified if traveling on Senior, Youth, Child, or Infant* fares.
    • Check in beginning 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure time.
    • Check in at least one hour prior to your scheduled departure time.
    • Have purchased an eligible fare type (Customers holding reservations for group or military fares must proceed to the airport to check in.)

    *This only applies to infants traveling on an Infant fare. Customers traveling with children under 2 who are traveling as lap children must still present a valid birth certificate for the child and check in with a Customer Service Agent at the airport.

    These requirements, fare rules, heightened security, and other issues may prevent some reservations from qualifying for Online Checkin.

  2. From the southwest.com home page, click Check In Online.
  3. In Online Checkin widget on the homepage, enter the confirmation number and the first and last name of any passenger listed in the reservation in the boxes provided and click the Go button.
  4. Flights available for Online Checkin are denoted in the Status column by the words Boarding Pass Available in green text. Check the box next to the document(s) that you wish to print, and then click the Print Selected Documents button.

    Please note:

    • Airport checkin is required when Security Document Available is denoted in green text in the status column. You may print your Security Document online and proceed to the gate to check in.
    • Airport Checkin is required for all routings in which a Boarding Pass is not available or not printed.
    • Flights not available for Online Checkin will be denoted as Airport Checkin Required in red text.
    • Faxed copies of Boarding Passes will not be accepted and must be reprinted prior to boarding the aircraft.
  5. Print your Boarding Pass(es):
    • Use your Internet Browser’s Print function.
