TITLE: Vice President - Labor and Employee Relations
JOB DESCRIPTION: Joe is responsible for oversight of labor relations with the numerous labor organizations representing Southwest employees, and for ensuring compliance with local, state and federal employment laws.
LENGTH OF SERVICE AT SOUTHWEST: Joe's official start date was December 30, 2005.
EDUCATION: Joe received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor University in 1963, majoring in History and English. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Baylor Law School in 1966.
EXPERIENCE: Prior to joining Southwest, Joe was practicing attorney specializing in labor and employment law, often representing Southwest in labor and employment litigation. He is Board certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, is a Member of the American Bar Association Committee On Railway and Airline Labor Law, is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, was selected by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer, and is a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
FAMILY: Joe and his wife, Diana, have two, sons, David and Stephen, and a granddaughter, Taylor, born to Stephen and his wife Elizabeth.
FIRST PAYING JOB: Paper route in his hometown of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
PROUDEST MOMENT: The births of David, Stephen, and Taylor are his proudest moments.
