Crossing the U.S. Border


Currently Southwest Airlines offers intra- and inter-state travel within the United States. Because we offer service from cities such as Seattle, Buffalo, El Paso, and San Diego to name a few, we often have Customers who desire to come into the United States for business and/or pleasure airline travel.

Advisory: For land and sea travel effective January 31, 2008, the Department of Homeland Security will no longer accept oral declarations of citizenship at the border. U.S. and Canadian citizens will be required to present either a Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) compliant document or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, NEXUS Card, or passport.
