Business Select
- RefundableRefundable, as long as you cancel your reservation at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight. If you cancel, you’re eligible to receive 100% of your ticket value as a refund to your original form of payment. A Southwest flight credit from a previous reservation that are applied toward a Business Select or Anytime Fare will be refunded as a flight credit.

Get your boarding position automatically with EarlyBird Check-In®. EarlyBird Check-In means you will automatically be checked in to your flight 36 hours prior to scheduled departure. For Anytime fares purchased between 36 and 24 hours, the boarding position assignment process has begun so this may impact the boarding position assigned to you. If you purchase an Anytime fare within 24 hours of your flight’s scheduled departure, you will not receive the EarlyBird Check-In benefit. In an irregular operation situation, the boarding position is not guaranteed.
Enjoy early access to overhead bins and seats. Don’t forget to grab your boarding pass online, on the app, or at the airport. This benefit is included on the Anytime fare if purchased at least 36 hours from your time of departure.
Be one of the first to board with A1-A15 boarding.
Be one of the first to select your seat and find space for your carryon bags. The boarding position is guaranteed even if Business Select is purchased on your day of travel, and automatic check-in is included.
Change your flight at the last minute.Priority and Express Lanes: Priority Lanes and Express Lanes, (where available), are designed to speed our Business Select and Anytime Customers, as well as A-List, and A-List Preferred Members, through check-in and security lines. Priority Lanes are at Southwest check-in counters, and Express Lanes are at security checkpoints.
Change to a different flight on your day of travel without additional airline charges if there are seats available with same-day confirmed change. If there are no seats available, you can get on the same-day standby list for a different flight through a Southwest Gate Agent or on the Southwest app or mobile web. Taxes and fare difference may apply but will be refunded.
Your two checked bags fly free2
With the Business Select fare, you get to bring two free checked bags. Also, Southwest allows all ticketed Passengers to bring one standard carryon bag and one personal item at no cost.

Transfer flight credits to someone else.5
When you cancel, if you choose a Transferable Flight CreditTM, all Rapid Rewards members can give flight credits to a friend, co-worker, or loved one if they don’t have plans to use them. For flights booked and ticketed and/or changed on or after May 28, 2025 these credits have a 12-month expiration from the original ticketing date. GDS Customers will work with their Travel Agent who will conduct a transfer within that system.

Same-day standby allows you to retain your current flight and boarding position and list yourself for standby on an earlier flight should a seat become available. Add your name on the Southwest app or mobile web, at least 30 minutes ahead of scheduled departure.

Carryon bags are A-Okay
Each passenger may carry on one bag and one personal item at no charge. Bags can also be checked at the airport for a fee.2
Basic Fare1
Basic fares are non-refundable and non-changeable except as allowed by our 24-hour cancellation policy. Customers may be eligible for a flight credit if canceled at least 10 minutes prior to the flight's original departure time.
Checked Bag2
Bag fees will apply to Basic, Wanna Get Away Plus®, and Anytime fares booked and ticketed and/or changed on or after May 28, 2025. Business Select® will continue to receive two free checked bags. Rapid Rewards® A-List Preferred members will receive their first and second checked bags for free. A-List members and Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers will only receive their first checked bag for free. Checked bag benefits will not apply on flights booked with a partner carrier. Rapid Rewards®points3
Points can be earned from (a) Qualifying Flights (defined below) operated by Southwest®, or (b) through qualifying purchases with our Rapid Rewards partners. “Qualifying Flights” include flights operated by Southwest Airlines® and paid entirely with dollars, Southwest LUV Vouchers, gift cards, or flight credits and those paid with Cash + Points. NOTE: With a Cash + Points booking, points are earned only on the portion of the base fare that is paid with dollars. Qualifying Flights exclude reward flights, charter flights, nonrevenue travel, and Companion Pass® travel. All Rapid Rewards rules and regulations apply and can be found at Southwest.com/rrterms.
Flight Credits4
To receive a flight credit, you must cancel your flight at least 10 minutes prior to the flight’s original scheduled departure time. If you do not cancel, your points and funds may be forfeited. Learn more. Business Select, Anytime, and Wanna Get Away Plus® Transferable Flight Credits created from reservations booked and ticketed and/or changed on or after May 28, 2025 expire twelve months from the date the fare was booked and ticketed. Basic fare flight credits expire six months from the date the fare was purchased and ticketed.
Transferable Flight Credit™5
To receive a credit, you must cancel your flight at least 10 minutes prior to the flight’s original scheduled departure time. If you do not cancel, your points and funds may be forfeited. Learn more. Transferable Flight Credits created from reservations booked and ticketed and/or changed on or after May 28, 2025 expire twelve months from the date the fare was booked and ticketed. Transferable Flight Credits can be transferred between Rapid Rewards® Members. Only one transfer is permitted. For bookings made through a Southwest® Business channel, transfers are allowed only between employees within the organization.
Refundable6
As long as you cancel your reservation at least 10 minutes prior to the original scheduled departure of your flight, you’re eligible to receive 100% of your ticket value as a refund to your original form of payment. A Southwest® flight credit from a previous reservation that is applied toward a Business Select® or Anytime fare will be refunded as a Transferable Flight Credit. For travel booked with Rapid Rewards® points, if canceled, points will be returned to the Rapid Rewards account holder who booked the ticket. Changes7
If you need to change an upcoming flight itinerary, you’ll only pay the difference in fare for Wanna Get Away Plus®, Anytime, and Business Select® fares (if one applies). For Basic fares, you may upgrade the fare to Wanna Get Away Plus®, Anytime, or Business Select®. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 10 minutes prior to original scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds.
Cancellations8
All fare types are eligible for cancellations without a fee. For changes to a flight itinerary with Wanna Get Away Plus®, Anytime, and Business Select®, there is no fee, though a fare difference may apply. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 10 minutes prior to original scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds.
Free same-day change/standby®9
Same-day change: On the day of travel, you can switch free of airline charges to another flight with space available departing on the same calendar day between the same origin airport and destination airport as your original flight. A-List Preferred and A-List Members who purchase Basic fares are not eligible for free same-day change.
Same-day standby: You can list for same-day standby on an earlier flight via a Southwest® Customer Service Agent at the airport or the Southwest app or mobile web. You will receive a message based on the contact preference selected during booking if you are cleared on the flight. With the exception of A-List Preferred and A-List Members, Customers who purchase Basic fares are not eligible for free same-day standby.
For both same-day change and same-day standby, you must change your flight or request to be added to the same-day standby list at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your original flight or the no-show policy will apply. If using the app or mobile web for standby, you must list your name 30 minutes ahead of scheduled departure.
