Seeking a donation of travel for your organization? Southwest Airlines is committed to giving back to the communities where our Customers and Employees live and work. Community Giving Boards are made up of local Employees from various work groups who evaluate donation requests Southwest receives from nonprofit charitable organizations in their community. The Boards donate complimentary, roundtrip travel to approved organizations for fundraising or transportation purposes. Last year, Southwest received over 15,000 donation requests from local organizations.

Here at Southwest Airlines, our love of People and Community is our most powerful fuel, which is why we have a rich history of helping Customers and Communities through nonprofit support. We are committed to giving back in the communities where our Customers and Employees live and work, as well as focusing at a national level to have a greater impact in Placemaking, Families Facing Serious Illness, Military and their Families, Disaster Preparedness and Response and the Environment. In 2014, Southwest proudly donated $20 million in travel and cash to national and local qualified nonprofit organizations, while Southwest Employees volunteered 144,596 hours.
Placemaking The Southwest Airlines Heart of the Community program was developed to support and activate public spaces in the heart of cities. We are committed to leveraging the power of Placemaking to strengthen connections between People and the places they share and to spark social, economic, and environmental benefits in communities across the country.
Families Facing Serious Illness Southwest understands the strain serious illnesses can put on a family, especially when necessary medical treatments are far from home. It is our hope to aid in easing the worries and transportation needs of these families by donating travel through our Medical Transportation Grant Program and to select nonprofit organizations.
Military and their Families Patriotism runs deep at Southwest Airlines, and we are proud of those who serve, especially the Active Duty, Reservists, and Veterans that are part of the Southwest Family. Southwest honors Veterans of all past wars and works with nonprofit organizations that provide a variety of valuable programs and services to support the men, women, and families who sacrifice for our country every day. Disaster Preparedness and Response As a Company, Safety and preparedness is of the utmost importance. We work with organizations to help the communities we serve be more prepared, and lend our support in times of need due to disasters that impact them.
The Environment Environmental Stewardship is a responsibility Southwest takes seriously, as minimizing waste and effectively using our resources (energy, People, and materials) helps us protect our most vital resource of all—the world in which we live. Committed to Supporting our Communities During Times of Need…
Southwest Airlines works closely with our national disaster relief partners: The American Red Cross, Team Rubicon, All Hands Volunteers, Americares and Toolbank USA — these organizations focus on disaster preparedness and response during times of need. As a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, we ensure the Red Cross can be on the scene of a disaster at a moment’s notice to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to people impacted by significant events.
